THE LA Y MOBILE APP

Stay connected to your Y no matter where you go with our mobile app.  The LA Y app allows you to reserve group exercise classes, courts, swim lanes and other equipment, schedule personal training sessions and you can even take virtual classes with your favorite instructors, on your schedule, when you can’t make it to class in person.

Get Started by Downloading the app in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store

Once you open the app, you’ll need to login using your email address.  Please use the email address associated with your YMCALA account.  After you submit your email, you’ll be sent a verification PIN that you will enter when you set up your password.  Please note that you must have an active YMCALA membership to use our app.

 

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR LA Y APP

This is the home screen.

The menu at the footer contains four options:

“Home” takes you back to the home screen

“Schedules” shows you today’s schedule

“Reservations” shows you your reservations

“Hours” shows you all branch hours 

SETTING YOUR PREFERRED BRANCH

While your membership includes access to all of the Metropolitan Los Angeles Y branches, setting your preferred branch enables you to focus on the classes at the branch you use most.

Your preferred branch is in the top right of the screen. To set your preferred branch:

  1. Press the menu in the top left
  2. Select the account from the menu in the top right

3) Select “Change Preferred Facility”

4) Choose your preferred branch from the dropdown menu & press save

Book a Class:
Book a Class is for all group exercise classes and personal training

Reserve a Spot:
Reserve a Spot is for all facility, court, equipment and swim lane reservations

HOW TO BOOK A CLASS (GROUP EXERCISE)

(Please make sure you’ve set you’re default branch or select an alternate location or all locations if you’d like to see other branch schedules)

Make sure your preferred branch is selected, or choose all locations

1) Select Book a Class    

2) Select the date you’d like to attend

3) Choose your class and press reserve

How to book a class

You can reserve a spot in any of our group exercise classes up to 7 (seven) days in advance. Classes that have finished will no longer appear on the app.

HOW TO RESERVE EQUIPMENT (SWIM LANES, BASKETBALL & RACQUETBALL COURTS, ETC.)

(Please make sure you’ve set you’re default branch or select an alternate location or all locations if you’d like to see other branch schedules)

1) Select Reserve a Spot

2) Select the date you’d like to make your reservation

3) Choose the equipment you’d like to reserve (swim lane, etc.), the time and press reserve

How to reserve equipment

 

Please note the following:

  • Lap Lane reservations are 30 minutes
  • Basketball & Racquetball court reservations are 60 minutes
  • You can make equipment reservations up to 7 (seven) days in advance.  Additional same day reservations can be made upon completion of 1st reservation.

 

HOW TO SCHEDULE PERSONAL OR SMALL GROUP TRAINING

Interested in Personal Training?

1) Select “Book a Class”

2) Select Personal Training from the top menu

3) Select “Schedule” for the Personal Training or Small Group Training that you prefer

4) Press request info to fill out a quick survey to match your needs.

A YMCA staff will follow up with you to schedule your first sessions.

How to schedule personal training

 

Once you purchased your Personal Training program:

1) Select your training program (30 or 60 minutes), then select your preferred trainer.

2) Choose the day and time and select “Request Booking”. An email confirmation will be sent you and your training confirming your booking.

*In the right corner of this screen you will see how many trainings passes you have available. These will refill monthly as part of your registered personal training program.

WHAT HAPPENS IF A CLASS IS CANCELLED?

All members who signed up for the class will receive an email and a push notification via the app that the class has been canceled.

2) Scroll down to the date and select the date you’d like to take the class

3) Choose your preferred branch or view all branches

4) Find the class you’d like to take

5) Select “Reserve”

What happens if I miss a reservation?

We understand, things come up and plans change. When making a reservation, if you are unable to attend, it is important to cancel the reservation ahead of time whenever possible. Group Exercise classes require one hour notice and all others require as much notice as possible.  This practice will allow another member of our community to fill the spot and participate.

After 3 missed reservations, access in the app will be suspended 14 days. If you did attend one of the reservations and you were not checked in, please let us know through emailing us directly or asking the front desk and we will work with you to resolve your use of the reservation system once again.
