A Message from the Executive Director of the Weingart YMCA Wellness & Aquatic Center:
We had another great community turnout for our Grab-N-Go Food Distribution event we had over the weekend at the Weingart YMCA Wellness & Aquatic Center. Despite the orangish sky looming over us, we were able to bring a little sunshine, food and music Saturday morning to a lot of smiling faces. We provided 750 meals and 100 Salad kits to our South LA families. A huge thank you to all of our volunteers, partners and sponsors that made this day special. Ernesto Morales, CEO of North Star Alliance; Kelly Robinson of LA Care Health Plan and their entire LA Care team…you have an amazing staff! A huge thank you to Ali Sahabi, CEO of Optimum Seismic, Inc. for their generous $5,000 contribution that will help continue our community outreach that significantly impacts our families in this community. Thank you to Fresh Start Meals and FEAST for providing the Grab-N-Go food for our event. In addition, our partnership with Cal State LA and the Achieve LA initiative, which allows us to increase collegebound enrollments and enhance educational equity in our most underserved and under resourced communities, thank you for your support and partnership.
A huge thank you to the UCLA Bruins Football Team, Head Coach Chip Kelly; Assistant Head Coach & Defensive Back Coach Brian Norwood | Coaching Staff; Justine Frye, Deshaun Foster, Vince Croce, Jake Rudolph and the UCLA Women’s Soccer Team for volunteering their time Saturday morning to help handout food to families with food insecurities in South LA. We sincerely appreciate our growing partnership, and look forward to more collaborations with the UCLA Bruins SA, and the Academic Programming Department in the near future. Thank you.
